Mbokodwe

I am so excited to share with you Food4Africa's "Mbokodwe" project that is empowering women in the community to not only uplift themselves but their families as well!

On a very cold winters morning the Food4Africa team happened on a group of desperate but talented South African ladies who personally create exquisite wares. The initial discovery was made in Emondlo, a township just outside Vryheid in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa. These ladies are the inspiration behind MBOKODWE.

MBOKODWE was born amongst heaps of laughter, tears of joy and the promise of a future income.

MBOKODWE is the

Zulu word for Stone or Rock. The original Mbo

kodwe stone was used to grind corn and maize. The team decided that this word symbolizes all that they as women stand for - Women with strength, endurance, perseverance, dedication and, most of all, usefulness through all spheres of life.

Each item is “INDIVIDUALLY HANDCRAFTED” with Love, Blood-sweat and tears. Thus uniqueness is guaranteed. No two items will ever be identical; nor can this item be re-created. A similar item can be crafted but the color of the beads and fabric will differ from the original.

You too can support and contribute to this Upliftment project through you purchase of an MBOKODWE Hand Crafted item.

Please click here http://www.food4africa.co.za/history.asp to check out their products!

These crafts will enha

nce your wellbeing and self-worth as well as help Food4Africa to feed the many families suffering from malnutrition, mainly children. The proceeds from all sales of the crafts will be ploughed back into the Community through Job creation, Food hampers, Uniforms, Training and Education.

I urge you to purchase any of the Exclusive Mbokodwe Hand Crafted items in order to aid Food4Africa in our mission to nourish empower and sustain those that are in need.

My favorites are their handmade holiday and everyday cards that feature beading accents, handmade pap

er, and other adornments such as feathers. They are great as birthday, thank you, and holiday cards! They also offer other items such as jewelry and home decor.

The children of today are the future leaders of our world tomorrow, let's feed them.
